My Tale of Whoa...

Or...Who I Be??

...In short, Me...Chris Casper, creating under the moniker of Boo Music (obviously & hopefully not too corny), hail originally from Long Island, NY. & was born waaaaay back in the swinging 60's; an era of some of the latter 20th century's best music. Like most kids of the day, I became mezmerized by the great bands of the time: The Beatles, Beach Boys, etc. B'way musicals, Handel, Orff, James Taylor, Carol King, folk, pop...all popped out of the stereo speakers in our home in Ridge. The radio was king back then & was never short on amazing and varied music.

Fast forward to the mid to late seventies and after having banged on all manner of makeshift percussion & "adapted" cookware, telephone books & a second hand snare drum, I started learning music in school. Trumpet was first & then proper percussion in school bands. Rock n' roll was ever present; Steely Dan, Kiss, Stevie Wonder, EWF, Steve Miller, Frampton, 10cc, ELO, Cream & Hendrix, The Who, and many, many others...It all gave way in '79 to Punk & New Wave...my generation's sounds. Costello, Joe Jackson, Devo, Talking Heads, The Police, The Jam, the UK Ska revival bands like The (English) Beat and The Specials all revised & redefined my musical vocabulary. Concurrently, a HS music teacher said I should try out for Jazz Ensemble. I did & made the cut. New music drifted in & I was exposed to Ellington, Basie, Miles, Bird, Dizzy, Thad Jones, Coltrane, Blakey et al and a new chapter opened.

College years were pit orchestras, rock bands, some jazz & painfully teaching myself guitar as a lefty playing upside down righty. And then came the notion I could possibly/ maybe WRITE some songs. Crappy ones at first, but they got better. My lifelong school mate Kenny & myself formed The Untones in HS & collaborated on tunes from a distance. Mustapha Mond was another "art school" band. The tunes kept coming...many other cool bands came & went later in my 20's & 30's & I continued on...

Fast forward to today: I still write, record, produce & play my own stuff as a multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter more out of necessity than a desire to fill all those roles. In essence, music is my passion, my love & at my spritual core. To not have it in my life is unimaginable...I hope you enjoy the output & find some redeeming qualities in what I do...peace!!
